Biography

Kevin Carter brings more than four decades of invaluable experience as a counselor, educator, trainer, therapist, manager, and leader. He has spearheaded grief programming at organizational and community levels within the non-profit sector and private sectors and extends his expertise nationally as a consultant and educator, focusing on grief care for communities of color. As a content advisor for WPSU's Speaking Grief documentary, he has contributed significantly to public education on grief complexities. His role as a Senior Research and Practice Fellow with the Strategic Design Fellowship at the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation at Drexel University allows him to merge academic research with practical applications, enhancing his impact on communities navigating grief and trauma. Additionally, he is a board member of the National Alliance for Children's Grief, emphasizing his commitment to supporting young people through loss. He has served on social work faculties at several universities, integrating grief and trauma training into coursework and curriculums, and engages individuals, families, and communities through a variety of holistic modalities. His dedication to healing and resilience, especially within marginalized communities, and innovative contributions to the field, make him a respected figure in both academic and practical realms of grief and trauma support.
